Based on a new rumor, we could see an onslaught of Apple iPhone Air copycats. That may not be the best word to describe them, but a lot of phones that are inspired by the iPhone Air seem to be right around the corner.
Android smartphone manufacturers are allegedly making iPhone Air competitors
A tipster, Yogesh Brar, claims that OPPO, Xiaomi, and HONOR are among the companies that are making their own version of the iPhone Air. In other words, they’re making ultra-thin smartphones of their own.
The tipster claims that these are not all the companies that are making their own version of the phone, just the latest that he has heard of. Take this with a grain of salt, even though it’s easily possible it’s true.
The iPhone Air arrived earlier this month as an ultra-thin offering from Apple, and a brand new addition to the company’s smartphone lineup. This is the first ‘Air’ iPhone. It is only 5.6mm thick, and weighs only 165 grams despite the fact it has a 6.5-inch display.
The iPhone Air’s battery life doesn’t seem to be as bad as everyone thought it would
Many people thought that the battery life would be utter garbage, but based on initial reports, the battery life is not half bad. The iPhone Air could actually be an option for people who want an ultra-slim phone.
If other companies do plan to deliver such a phone, they’ll have to think of battery life, of course. The good news is that Chinese companies use silicon-carbon batteries, unlike Apple, Samsung, and Google. So, they’ll be able to use higher-capacity batteries while not risking more space inside the device.
That gives us hope that the battery life won’t be bad. The iPhone Air relies more on optimization and the Apple A19 Pro chip for good battery life, as the battery pack inside the phone is anything but impressive.
Samsung announced its ultra-thin phone prior to Apple
As a reminder, Samsung did announce its ultra-thin offering earlier this year, the Galaxy S25 Edge. That phone is slightly thicker than the iPhone Air, while it’s also slightly lighter, while it has a larger display. Its battery life is not exactly impressive, though.
