Leaked One UI 8.5 Code Confirms One UI 9.0 as Next Big Update

We’ve been seeing multiple leaks lately related to One UI 8.5. However, the first clues about the update after that are already here. Although it seems too early, Samsung is already planning its next big software update, One UI 9.0 code found in a leaked One UI 8.5 firmware build (by SamMobile) has confirmed the existence of this upcoming version. Everything points to Android 17 being the core of this firmware.

While One UI 9.0 is still a long way off, likely arriving in about a year, it will be a major update. The software is expected to bring a host of new features and design changes that could be more significant than the ones we see in One UI 8.0 and 8.5.

The Galaxy S26 series, which will launch with One UI 8.5 out of the box, will likely be the first devices to receive the One UI 9.0 update. We can also expect to see the next generation of foldable phones, including the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip flagships, launch with One UI 9.0. This includes Samsung’s first reported tri-fold foldable. According to reports, this device will have a worldwide release next year.

It’s too early to know what specific new features will bring One UI 9.0. But considering Samsung’s recent background, you can expect a lot of AI to take center stage. The company’s recent focus on enhanced customization, smoother animations, and AI-powered tools in its current updates are also clues as to what the key focus will be in the next version.

For now, the leaked firmware and confirmation of One UI 9.0 give us a look ahead at Samsung’s software development roadmap. While we wait for more details to emerge, users can look forward to the ongoing rollout of the One UI 8.0 update.

In related news, Samsung just started the stable rollout of One UI 8 to the Galaxy S24 series—including the FE model—Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Galaxy Z Fold 6.
