Samsung’s Tri-Fold Could Be Coming to the US After All

There is still hope we’ll see Samsung’s first tri-fold smartphone launched in the US. Well, at least according to a new report by CNN. This report goes against what we’ve heard thus far, but there you go.

There is still hope we’ll see Samsung’s first tri-fold smartphone in the US

The source says that “Samsung is considering releasing its upcoming tri-fold smartphone in the United States” as it “seeks to recharge the market.” CNN claims that Samsung is “still weighing which markets to launch the device in when it arrives later this year, but a United States release is part of those discussions.”

CNN claims to have received this information from a “person familiar with the company’s plans.” Pretty much all previous reports stated that the company’s first tri-fold smartphone will launch in Korea and China only.

That may still be the case, but there is at least a chance that the device will make its way to the US. It’s possible that it will launch in Korea and China first, and then trickle down to the US at some point.

The launch of that handset has been delayed

With that being said, the initial launch of the device has been postponed. That is something we talked about yesterday, as a report surfaced in Korea. Samsung delayed both its first tri-fold smartphone and the XR headset.

They were supposed to launch on September 29, but the launch event has allegedly been moved to October 21. At least for the XR headset. The tri-fold could launch during that event or at some point in November.

This may be Samsung’s first tri-fold smartphone, but it’s not the first tri-fold in general. Huawei announced two tri-fold models thus far, the Huawei Mate XT and Mate XTs. The former arrived last year, while the latter was announced quite recently.
