There are situations that we have all gone through at least once. Among those are the classic trip or a day out that, to plan, you have to check multiple apps to figure out the weather forecast for your destination. It’s a minor hassle, but in a world where technology is supposed to make our lives easier, it feels like an unnecessary step. Google seems to agree, and they’ve introduced a new feature on the Google Pixel 10 series that, using the new Magic Cue, makes your weather insights more personal.
Recently, the Mountain View giant launched the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. The entire lineup is compatible with Magic Cue, an AI-powered feature that acts proactively to give you useful data bits and suggestions based on the apps and services you use. Well, it seems that Google is planning more features that take advantage of the power of Magic Cue. One of those appears to be an upcoming “personal weather insights.”
Google Pixel 10 debuts AI “personal weather insights” via Magic Cue
As spotted by Android Authority, Google rolled out personal weather insights. This is a new addition to the Pixel Weather app that, using Magic Cue, displays information from your saved Google account events to give you tailored weather forecasts and helpful tips. For example, if you have a business trip to another city scheduled in your calendar, your Pixel phone can automatically show you the weather for that location. The feature can even suggest what you might need to pack for that specific destination.
To enjoy the feature, you must add locations to the “saved locations” section of the Pixel Weather app. The personal weather insights should then be available under “AI Weather Report.”
It’s all about making your phone a proactive assistant. Instead of you having to search for the weather in a new city, your Pixel 10 anticipates your needs and provides the information before you even ask. The feature works for events up to ten days in the future. This means you’ll have plenty of time to prepare for a change in temperature or a surprise rainstorm.
Available first in the US and Japan
This feature is a step toward, but it’s not without its limitations. For now, it is only available to users in the United States and Japan. Google has also not mentioned its availability for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. But the fact that this technology exists at all is a good sign for the future of mobile devices. It seems that now the Android brands will focus on making our phones not only react to our commands but also actively help us prepare for what’s next.
