The OnePlus 15 will seemingly include yet another dowgrade, its haptic motor. Based on a new report by the OnePlus Club, the OnePlus 15’s haptic motor will be inferior to the one inside the OnePlus 13.
The OnePlus 15 will probably have weaker haptics than its predecessor
The company’s upcoming flagship will include the AAC ESA1016 haptic motor (560mm²), while the OnePlus 13 has the AAC CSA+0916Turbo (602mm²). That’s not a huge downgrade, but it’s still a downgrade.
On its own, it wouldn’t have gotten as much attention, but this is the third downgrade that is rumored. The phone is tipped to have a smaller 3x telephoto camera sensor, and possibly even a smaller main camera sensor (1/1.56-inch vs 1/1.43-inch).
That alone is enough to get some people riled up, that’s for sure. If you add the haptic motor on top of that, well… the frustration is kind of understandable. That’s not even all, a third downgrade is rumored, though I wouldn’t say that’s really a downgrade.
Its display will have lower resolution, but it’ll probably be an improvement
The OnePlus 15 will ship with a display that will have lower resolution than the one inside the OnePlus 13, but the display inside a new phone will be a technologically more advanced panel.
To be more precise, the OnePlus 13 includes a 2K+ display, while the OnePlus 15 is said to have a 1.5K display. The OnePlus 15’s display is tipped to have a higher refresh rate and use the latest tech from BOE. So… I wouldn’t really call it a downgrade, as you wouldn’t be able to notice the resolution difference either way. 1.5K is plenty.
The OnePlus 15 will almost certainly be fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, which was announced today, and it will likely launch next month. The phone’s probable design surfaced recently.
