According to X/Twitter user theonecid, the Quick Panel in One UI 8.5 will be “completely customizable.” This is a big deal because it goes beyond the simple rearranging of icons that has been available in the past. Screenshots and reports from early builds suggest that you could move, resize or remove entirely every quick setting toggle. This means you could make the Wi-Fi and mobile data icons bigger for easier access or get rid of toggles you never use, like Smart View or SmartThings.
This new level of freedom would be the most significant redesign of Samsung’s control panel in years. If true, it could bring Samsung’s software in line with what we’ve seen from competitors. Apple’s iOS 18 introduced similar customization options, for example. The change is a direct response to a common request from users who have long wanted more control over the interface.
It’s not so bad that the leaks come from early builds and Samsung could still change its plans. However, the signs are promising.
