Huawei has unveiled a new tablet, the MatePad 12 X 2025, which is designed to enhance work, study, and creative tasks. The device, announced in London, introduces several new features centered around its display and stylus. It aims to provide an advanced experience for digital creators and professionals at a more affordable price tag than devices such as the Galaxy Tab S11 series.

A central feature of the new tablet is its ultra-clear PaperMatte Display. This screen uses high-precision nanoscale etching technology to reduce glare by 50% compared to the previous model. The tech intends to make it clearer and more comfortable for reading and drawing.
The MatePad 12 X also comes with an all-new HUAWEI M-Pencil Pro stylus. This updated stylus includes several features to improve the creative workflow. The list includes a radial menu that gives direct access to tools, brushes, and color palettes with a simple pinch gesture. The stylus also has a quick button to open the HUAWEI Notes app and supports 16,384 pressure sensing levels for more precise and varied strokes in drawing applications. It comes with three distinct tips designed for different tasks: standard writing, small-font writing, and painting.
Beyond these features, the tablet itself has a sleek, all-metal unibody design that is both thin and lightweight. It weighs just 555g and is 5.9mm thick. It also includes a 3D heat dissipation architecture to improve performance by 27% over its predecessor.
To coincide with the launch, Huawei has announced the start of its annual GoPaint Worldwide Activity Creating 2025. This event, now in its second year, is a global competition designed to encourage digital artists. This year, the competition will introduce a new “Animation” category alongside its existing ones. Participants can also enroll in the Narrative Art and Sci-Fi Art categories.
The HUAWEI MatePad 12 X is now available for order in the UK. Prices start at £599.99, and for a limited time, buyers will receive a free M-Pencil Pro stylus.
