Samsung’s Tri-Fold Smartphone Finally Has a Launch Date… Unofficially

Samsung’s tri-fold smartphone has been rumored for a long time now, and now we seem to have its launch date. While the information has still not been confirmed by Samsung, it comes from a reliable source.

The date in question is September 29, and the info comes from Ice Universe, one of China’s most prominent tipsters. That’s also not the only device that will be launched during that event.

Ice Universe claims that Samsung will also announce its XR headset there, the one codenamed ‘Project Moohan’. To make things even more interesting, the AI glasses from the company are also coming.

Now, this launch event will take place in South Korea, based on what the tipster said. The company’s first tri-fold smartphone is rumored to be available only in Korea and China, so… it makes sense.

While you should not expect to get the very first tri-fold from the company in global markets, chances are that will change next year, with the second-gen model. There’s a slight chance the first model will also be available, though, we’ll see.

The Project Moohan headset is rumored to go on sale on October 13

If this date sounds familiar, that’s because it was mentioned previously. It was related to the Project Moohan headset only, not the company’s tri-fold smartphone, however. Speaking of Project Moohan, that headset is rumored to go on sale in Korea on October 13.

Huawei is the only company to have released a tri-fold smartphone thus far. The Mate XT arrived last year, and Huawei is preparing to launch its successor very soon. It will happen on September 4. So Huawei will have two tri-fold phones, before Samsung pulls the trigger on the very first one. Samsung’s tri-fold handset will also be quite expensive. Conflicting info surfaced, but it’s expected to cost around $3,000.
