Samsung has always paid close attention to the sound of its devices. Its iconic “Over The Horizon” ringtone has been evolving with each major software update. But with the new One UI 8, the company is taking an entirely different, and beautifully unexpected, turn. Instead of its usual bespoke melody, Samsung is surprising users with a collection of new ringtones based on a timeless classical masterpiece: Antonio Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons.”
This is more than just a simple addition to the ringtone list. It’s a key part of Samsung’s new “Inspired by Nature” sound design, a philosophy that permeates the entire One UI 8 update. The new ringtones are beautifully recorded, up to a minute long, and capture the unique feel of Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter.
One UI 8’s Vivaldi-inspired new ringtones
This isn’t the first time Samsung has tapped into classical music for its soundscapes. Last year, the company introduced ringtones based on Camille Saint-Saëns’ “The Carnival of the Animals.” However, the Vivaldi collection marks a much more notable shift.
To create these high-quality ringtones, Samsung brought in award-winning artists and sound directors. The recording session, which was summarized in a five-minute “making of” video on YouTube, was a serious production. It involved the renowned violinist Kim Da-mi, sound director Hwang Byung-jun, and the Collegium Musicum Seoul classical music performance team. The recording was done in a concert hall using Dolby Atmos audio technology. The latter creates a rich, three-dimensional soundscape that really makes these ringtones stand out.
So far, the new Vivaldi ringtones are a surprise feature that comes with the stable One UI 8 update. Samsung’s Android 16-based firmware is currently available on the latest Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. While they are not yet part of the One UI 8 beta program, Samsung has hinted that they will be included in the public rollout. The company has already announced that the stable One UI 8 build will be available to more Galaxy phones before the end of September 2025. So, a wider audience will soon get to experience this elegant new change.
