MediaTek has announced its newest flagship chipset, the Dimensity 9500. The company claims it sets a new standard in on-device AI, gaming, and power efficiency.
The Dimensity 9500 uses the new generation Arm CPU cores with an ‘All Big Core’ design. It uses a single Arm C1-Ultra core clocked at 4.21GHz, three C1-Premium cores, and four C1-Pro cores for an octa-core design. MediaTek claims this chip has 32% higher single-core and 17% higher multi-core performance than the Dimensity 9400, and the ultra core achieves up to 55% lower power consumption at peak performance. The 9500 is also said to be up to 30% more efficient while multitasking. There is also Armv9.3 support with new SME2 instructions for faster AI perception performance, and ML efficiency.
The Dimensity 9500 also has a new 4-channel UFS 4.1 storage support, which claims 100% faster sequential data speeds.
The Dimensity 9500 features the new Arm G1-Ultra GPU, which MediaTek claims provides up to 33% higher peak performance and 42% improved power efficiency. It has twice the ray tracing units and promises up to 112% faster ray tracing performance. It has support for up to 120fps ray traced gaming with interpolation. There’s also support for Vulkan’s ray tracing pipeline as well as UnrealEngine 5’s MegaLights and Nanite features.
The Dimensity 9500 has MediaTek’s ninth-generation NPU 990 with Generative AI Engine 2.0 that claims double the compute power of its predecessor, and introduces BitNet 1.58-bit large model processing with up to 33% reduced power consumption. With double the integer and floating-point computing capabilities, users can expect 100% faster 3 billion parameter LLM output, 128K token long processing, and 4K image generation, with a reduced power consumption of 56% at peak performance. The new Super Efficient NPU features the first of its kind integrated compute-in-memory architecture for reducing power consumption and enabling AI models to run continuously.

The new MediaTek Imagiq 1190 ISP in the Dimensity 9500 supports RAW-domain pre-processing of up to 200MP capture with 30fps continuous focus tracking, and new portrait engine with 4K 60fps portrait video. It also supports the latest MiraVision Adaptive Display feature.
Finally, the Dimensity 9500 has 10% lower power consumption in 5G and 20% lower in Wi-Fi scenarios, while 5CC carrier aggregation boosts bandwidth by 15%. AI positioning and network selection technologies offer 20% higher accuracy, as well as 50% lower network latency thanks to AI congestion prediction.
The MediaTek Dimensity 9500 will compete against the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 on flagship devices. You can expect to see this chip on the upcoming Oppo Find X9 Pro and the Vivo X300 later this year.
