New Dimensity 9500 Leak Suggests Major CPU and GPU Improvements

MediaTek is reportedly planning to introduce its next-gen flagship chipset, the Dimensity 9500, on September 22. If the reports are correct, MediaTek will steal Qualcomm’s thunder, which plans to launch its next major Snapdragon SoC on September 23. Ahead of the launch, many details regarding the upcoming MediaTek chip had already leaked earlier. Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station has now posted almost complete specifications of the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 SoC, and the details indicate significant improvements in the CPU and GPU departments.

Built on TSMC’s advanced N3P process and an all-large-core layout

The source claims that MediaTek is building the Dimensity 9500 SoC using TSMC’s advanced N3P 3nm fabrication process, which will deliver bold improvements in performance and efficiency. It will have one prime Travis core with a clock speed of 4.21GHz. The main core will be accompanied by three Alto performance cores ticking at 3.50GHz and four 2.7GHz Gelas efficiency cores.

In the graphics department, the Dimensity 9500 SoC could feature the ARM Mali-G1 Ultra GPU with 12 cores. The GPU will have a new microarchitecture, which will provide enhanced ray tracing support and decreased power consumption.

New NPU 9.0, 4-channel LPDDR5X RAM, and a version of Vivo’s V3+ ISP

Furthermore, the tipster suggests that the Dimensity 9500 chip will feature a next-gen NPU 9.0. Its new Neural Processing Unit will allegedly deliver around 100 TOPS (trillion operations per second) to offer improved artificial intelligence-powered features. The chip technology giant will boost the L3 cache of the new SoC to 16MB, increasing it from 12MB found in the Dimensity 9400 series chips.

The new MediaTek chip will have 10MB system-level cache, support 4-channel LPDDR5x RAM at 10,667Mbps, and UFS 4.1 storage over a 4-lane setup. Additionally, the source claims that the Dimensity 9500 SoC will feature a version of Vivo’s V3+ ISP. However, it will likely be exclusive to Vivo products. It’s worth mentioning that the tipster has a reliable track record of leaking details of upcoming devices. The same Weibo channel also revealed the launch date of the new MediaTek processor last month.

If we believe the reports, the Vivo X300 series will be the first devices to utilize MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9500 chip in September. OPPO’s Find X9 series of phones will follow Vivo’s offerings in October with the same SoC.
