Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 vs Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: Design
These two phones have entirely different designs. They both use Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the back, and they both have flat sides (front, back, and frame), while their corners are slightly rounded. That’s basically where the similarities end, however. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 has a foldable main display with a centered display camera hole up top. The Galaxy S25 Ultra has a regular, flat display with a centered display camera hole up top, with bezels that are thinner than what the Galaxy Z Flip 7 offers.
On the right-hand side of the flip foldable, you’ll find power/lock and volume rocker buttons. The power/lock key doubles as a fingerprint scanner. The company’s Galaxy S25 Ultra, on the other hand, has power/lock and volume rocker buttons on that same side, but its fingerprint scanner sits under the display. That phone also comes with an S Pen stylus, which is docked on the inside, and you can access it from the bottom-right corner.
If we flip them around, you’ll notice even more differences. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 has two horizontally aligned cameras in the top-left corner, which sit inside its cover display. That cover display has thin bezels around, and it takes nearly half of the device’s back side. The Galaxy S25 Ultra has a lot more cutouts on the back, and two extra cameras, making a total of four of them on the back.
Both phones are kind of slippery. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 comes with an IP48 certification for water and dust resistance. The Galaxy S25 Ultra is IP68 certified. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is taller, narrower, and thinner when unfolded, while it’s also 30 grams lighter in comparison.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 vs Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: Display
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 has a 6.9-inch Foldable Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X main display. That panel supports an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and it also supports HDR10+ content. The peak brightness it offers is 2,600 nits, while the screen-to-body ratio is around 88%. The resolution on offer here is 2520 x 1080, with a display aspect ratio of 21:9. The cover display is a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED unit, with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The peak brightness is at 2,600 nits, while the resolution is 1048 x 948. The Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects this cover panel.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, on the flip side, has a 6.9-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X display. This panel is also flat, and it has an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz). HDR10+ content is supported, while the peak brightness is 2,600 nits. The screen-to-body ratio is at around 92%. This display has a resolution of 3120 x 1440 pixels, while the display aspect ratio is 19.5:9. Corning’s Gorilla Armor 2 protects this display.
All three of these displays are really good, actually. They’re vivid, have good viewing angles, and they’re more than sharp enough. The touch response is also good. They all offer high refresh rate and are a joy to use. The brightness is on point too, all of them get bright enough when you need them too. Even the crease on the main display is not all that pronounced, which is good.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 vs Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: Performance
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 is fueled by the Exynos 2500 processor. That is a 3nm chip, which is coupled with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM. UFS 4.0 flash storage is also included in the package. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, on the other hand, comes with the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip. That is also a 3nm chip, an overclocked variant of the regular Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. It is paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage. Neither phone supports storage expansion, by the way.
The chip inside the Galaxy S25 Ultra is more powerful, there’s no doubt about that. However, the Exynos 2500 has proven to be a worthy competitor, it worked really well inside our Galaxy Z Flip 7 unit. Both phones delivered very smooth performance on a day-to-day basis. We really don’t have any complaints regarding that. Lag was not a part of the equation, regardless of what we did with the phones.
When gaming is concerned, things were quite similar. However, the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy is more inclined to keep it together if you push it really hard with the most intensive games you can find in the Google Play Store. Still, both of them performed well, even though they did get quite warm when we pushed them with some games. Overheating was not a problem, though, not at all.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 vs Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: Battery
You’ll find a 4,300mAh battery inside the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7. The Galaxy S25 Ultra, on the other hand, has a 5,000mAh battery on the inside. While the Galaxy Z Flip 7 offers good battery life, it’s not great in that regard. The Galaxy S25 Ultra, on the other hand, kind of is. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 was mostly in the 6+ hours of screen-on-time range, rarely going over the 7-hour mark. The Galaxy S25 Ultra was able to get across that mark, with ease.
Your mileage may vary, of course, but for us, the Galaxy S25 Ultra delivered great battery life, while the Galaxy Z Flip 7 was several levels below it. For most people, both of these phones will be enough to get them to the end of the day, however. If you’re a power user, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is definitely the better choice of the two, when it comes to battery life.
Neither phone offers blazing fast charging, but the Galaxy S25 Ultra is faster. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 supports 25W wired, 15W wireless, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. The Galaxy S25 Ultra, on the other hand, supports 45W wired, 15W wireless (Qi2 ready), and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. It takes the Galaxy Z Flip 7 around an hour and a half to fully charge, while the Galaxy S25 Ultra can do the same in an hour.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 vs Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: Cameras
The company’s best flip phone foldable has two cameras on the back. It includes a 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.57-inch sensor size) and a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera (1/3.2-inch sensor size, 123-degree FoV). The Galaxy S25 Ultra, on the other hand, has four cameras on the back. A 200-megapixel main camera (1/1.3-inch sensor size) is backed by a 50-megapixel ultrawide snapper (1/2.5-inch sensor size, 120-degree FoV) and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera (1/3.52-inch sensor size, 3x optical zoom). The last camera here is a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto unit (1/2.52-inch sensor size, 5x optical zoom).

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra offers better camera performance across the board, basically. Its main camera offers photos that are a bit sharper, and they offer better balance in general. That camera also performs better in low light. The ultrawide camera on the Galaxy S25 Ultra trumps the one on the Galaxy Z Flip 7, and mostly does a good job of keeping up with the main camera sensor in terms of colors.
Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 handset does not have a telephoto camera at all. The Galaxy S25 Ultra includes a periscope telephoto camera, however, which is not bad. It’s not amongst the best periscope telephoto cameras out there, but it does a far better job than the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s digital zoom, of course.
Audio
Both of these phones have stereo speakers. The ones on the Galaxy S25 Ultra are louder, though. Not that the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s speakers are not loud enough, but you do notice the differences. The sound output is good from both.
When it comes to an audio jack, neither phone has it. You can always hook up your wired headphones via a Type-C port, which both phones offer. Alternatively, Bluetooth 5.4 is on offer by both devices.
