Meta held its annual Meta Connect this week. This is essentially Meta’s big fall conference, which is typically focused more on consumer products, and that was the case this year. Meta announced an updated pair of the Meta RayBan smart glasses, finally, which offers double battery life, and a few other upgrades. There’s also a new pair that features a display, among other announcements.
Here’s everything that was announced at Meta Connect 2025.
2nd Gen Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses
Meta did announce the second-gen Ray-Ban Smart Glasses this year, finally. Something that many of us have been waiting for, for quite some time. The Ray-Ban smart glasses are getting their battery life doubled to eight hours, up from four hours on the original. It also still comes with the same 12-megapixel ultrawide video camera, but video resolution has been increased to 3K, as well as up to 60 frames per second.
The charging case was also upgraded this year, which can now offer up to 48 hours of charging, up from the previous 36 hours. Meta has added a new “conversation focus” feature here that is coming to the Oakley Meta HSTN glasses as well. This is going to amplify the sound of the person speaking to you in noisy areas. This is actually a really good feature to have, since the first-gen Ray-Bans were pretty tough to hear in somewhat noisy environments.
Ray-Ban Meta (gen 2) glasses are available now and will start at $379. They will continue to be offered in Wayfarer, Skyler and Headliner styles.

The new second-generation Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses offer twice the battery life, higher-resolution video, at the same great price.
Meta’s Ray-Ban Display

Meta has also announced a new version of its popular Ray-Ban smart glasses, this time with a display. This is a full-color, high-res screen in the right lens that is able to show you messages, take video calls, read live captions, see walking directions, and preview the pictures you’re about to take with the built-in 12-megapixel camera.
There is a wristband that you can use to control the display. This allows you to scroll, click, and will eventually allow you to write out messages using different gestures. Meta says that you’ll get up to six hours of “mixed-used” battery life or up to 30 hours with the collapsible charging case.
The new Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses will be available in US starting on September 30 from Best Buy, LensCrafters and Ray-Ban stores. It will start at $799 which includes the wristband and glasses. It also comes in black or brown colorways.
Oakley Meta Vanguard
Very shortly after launching the Oakley HSTN, Meta is back partnering with them once again for the Oakley Meta Vanguard. These feature a wraparound design with an IP68 ragint for water and dust resistance. It also sports integrations with fitness apps like Garmin and Strava, and you can use Meta AI to get more details about your fitness data and stats.
Obviously, these are focused on athletes, but it does still sport the same 12-megapixel camera as you’d expect on a pair of smart glasses. These have a 122-degree field of view camera which is on the nose bridge. Giving you a great first-person point-of-view for recording video. It can record in up to 3K resolution and now includes slow-motion, time-lapse, and hyperlapse video modes.
Meta says that the Vanguard will be available in four frame and lens color options when they launc on October 21, with pre-orders available right now for $499.

New Quest Headset Updates

Moving onto Quest, Meta does have a few updates here, though there’s not any new hardware this year.
First up, there is a new Hypserscape feature in Quest 3 and Quest 3S which allows you to scan your surroundings and transform it into a digitial space. The compamy showed this off at Meta Connect last year, but now it is available as a beta in the Hyperscape Capture app.
Meta is also adding the new Horizon TV entertainment hub inside Quest headsets. This is a central place where you’ll find all of your streaming apps on your Quest headset. This includes apps like Prime Video, Peacock, Twitch, and YouTube, Meta also announced that Disney Plus with ESPN and Hulu are coming to the platform very soon. Horizon TV hub does support Dolby Atmos surround sound, with Meta adding Dolby Vision later this year. Some movies will also have “immersive special effects” that you’ll only see on Quest headsets.
Finally, Meta also unveiled the Horizon Engine, which “powers better graphics, faster performance, and more advanced worlds.” The engine is capable of powering Meta’s new Hyperscape feature as well as allowing for larger capacities in virtual worlds. Meta is also planning to upgrade its Horizon Studio with an agentic AI assistant that will help “stitch” together its existing AI tools that help people make their own virtual world.
