Motorola is planning to launch a couple of new mid-range smartphones, including the Moto G 2026 and Moto G Play 2026, soon. Ahead of the launch, we’ve already provided you with an exclusive first look at the design of these phones, apart from detailing their key specs. Apart from the aforementioned mid-range models, Motorola is also working on a new budget phone. Rumors indicate that Motorola will call the device the Moto G36, and its specs have leaked through a listing on TENAA.
The affordable Moto G36 appears on TENAA with key specs and photos
Chinese regulatory authority TENAA has certified a new Motorola phone that bears the model number XT2533-4. Motorola will reportedly launch it as the Moto G36, the successor to last year’s Moto G35. The certification reveals that the device will measure 8.7mm around the waist and tip the scale at 210.
It will have a much different design than the Moto G35, featuring a bigger camera island with a couple of lenses. The Moto G36 appears to have an elevated power key, and Motorola may have moved the fingerprint sensor below the Moto emblem at the rear.
Coming with a similar display as the predecessor, but packing a powerful battery
As per TENAA, the Moto G36 will feature a 6.72-inch LCD screen panel with 1,080 x 2,400 pixel resolution, just like its predecessor. However, it’s not clear if the successor will also offer a high refresh rate of 120Hz. Motorola will power the smartphone with an octa-core processor of unknown make, featuring a maximum clock speed of 2.4GHz.
TENAA lists the alleged Moto G36 with 4GB/8GB/12GB/16GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB/256GB/512GB of storage. However, the 16GB RAM model seems dubious, and Motorola may not launch it commercially, as it’s a budget phone. The camera features will include a 50MP main sensor at the rear, aided by an 8MP secondary shooter. A 32MP snapper will also be present for selfies on the front.
Furthermore, the listing reveals that the tech firm will put a massive 7,000mAh battery under the hood of the new affordable offering. Based on its 3C certification, the G36 will offer 33W fast charging support.
As of now, it’s not clear when Motorola is planning to launch the Moto G36. Since it’ll be an affordable offering, we can safely assume the brand will debut it in select markets without a special launch event. We’ll keep an eye on the leaks to keep you informed in case you are looking for a new budget Motorola phone, so stay tuned.
