Xiaomi confirmed its next flagship phone series will be the Xiaomi 17. It will include three models: the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. Rumors have it that the top-end model may have a surprise for us in the form of a secondary display much like the Xiaomi 11 Ultra. Tuning in line with that, some Xiaomi 17 Pro Max renders have surfaced online, showing off its design.

The images of what is claimed to be the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max show the back panel design. We’re greeted with a secondary screen, one that appears to be bigger, too. We see a boxy chassis with rounded corners, pretty much like most flagships lately. There’s a large display on the back, which shows the circular clock widget. Within the secondary display, there are dual rear cameras, much like how we see on flip-style foldables. There’s a pill-shaped module below the horizontal layout for another camera sensor. There’s also an LED flash module.
Originally originating from Weibo, the sources of the leak notes that it’s indeed authentic. Interestingly, the design of the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max matches the live images that came out earlier this month. The new renders show the phone in a gray shade.
The flagship will arrive with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
The Xiaomi 17 series will debut with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip and promises premium performance. In a Weibo post, Xiaomi head Lu Weibing claims that the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max will be a pinnacle in the imaging department, while the vanilla Xiaomi 17 will be the strongest base version flagship in history. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 17 Pro could be a compact offering.
Besides the chipset, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max could arrive with a 6.8-inch 2K AMOLED display with LIPO tech for low power consumption. It could get a 50MP SmartSens 590 main sensor and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens. The phone may house a large 7,500mAh battery, which, if true, could be a significant jump over Xiaomi 15 Pro’s 6,100mAh cell.
