Spotify has introduced a handful of new features that allow users to organize their chaotic music library. The popular streaming platform is rolling out these new personalization tools to refine how its users discover and manage music. These new tools have arrived after Spotify started offering features to let users create personalized playlists using AI prompts, playlist management tools, and a revamped version of Discover Weekly.
Spotify’s new Smart Filters are here to help you organize your music library
First up, Spotify has introduced something called Smart Filters, which helps you organize your saved music. You can use it to sort your songs by different factors like genre, activity, and mood. To use this functionality, you’ll need to hit the filter icon in the top-left of your Library. The button has two horizontal lines with circles on either end.
You’ll find the Smart Filters menu showing options tailored to your saved Spotify music library, organized by activity, mood, or genre. Here, after you select a filter, the Spotify app will automatically update your audio library based on your choice.
Spotify has started rolling out the new Smart Filters for its Premium subscribers on mobile and tablet devices. At the moment, users in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the UK, and the US are getting access.
Additionally, Spotify has added some more features to help you personalize your music library. There’s a new option to hide tracks you don’t want to hear. You can do it by tapping three dots at the top of the Now Playing view and selecting “Hide in this playlist” to skip it next time. There’s a new Snooze feature for Premium users. It lets you pause music tracks from showing in your recommendations for a month.
In addition, Spotify’s fan favourite playlist, Discover Weekly, is getting some new controls. It now has a genre selection tool that allows you to decide which genre you want to explore today. Spotify Premium users are also getting a redesigned queue with upgraded controls. These make it easier to shuffle, Smart Shuffle, repeat, or add a Sleep Timer.
Furthermore, Spotify has improved the playlist management feature with options to add, sort and edit tracks, change titles, and create custom cover art. In some markets, Premium subscribers can also create new playlists from their Liked Songs by filtering them by mood or genre. Also, Premium users can now interact with the Spotify AI DJ using voice commands.
