Galaxy S26 Ultra Battery Is Stuck in 2022 — But Charging Could Finally Catch Up

No, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will not ship with more battery capacity, it will stick with the same battery as its predecessor. That much was rumored thus far, but it’s now kind of confirmed thanks to a certification listing.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra will use the same battery as the Galaxy S25 Ultra

China’s Quality Certification Center has issued a new certification for the EB-BS948ABY battery, which has a rated capacity of 4,855mAh. That is the same capacity as the battery inside the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and will be marketed as a 5,000mAh unit.

It doesn’t say that this is the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s battery, but it almost certainly is. It’s the exact same battery as the one in the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and the timing of this certification is ideal.

Faster charging could be in the cards

Now, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra may not get a battery boost, it may get faster charging. Some rumors are claiming that Samsung is getting ready to offer 65W wired charging with the device. That would be quite an improvement.

As a reminder, Samsung pushed the ‘Ultra’ phones to 45W charging with the Galaxy S22 Ultra years ago. It has been sticking with that ever since, and it may be time for an upgrade. Many phones these days offer 100W+ charging.

Now, in regards to the battery, it’s the standard Li-Ion unit, as the one in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Samsung will not be making a switch to silicon-carbon, at least not yet. That would allow the company to increase battery capacity while keeping the same size.

The device is coming early next year, most probably in January

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is coming early next year, most likely in January. It will launch alongside the Galaxy S26 Pro and Galaxy S26 Edge, if rumors are to be believed. The vanilla name is gone, and the same goes for the ‘+’ name.
