Snapdragon Monopoly Over? Galaxy S26 Ultra May Use Exynos 2600

Based on the latest report, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra could end up utilizing the upcoming Exynos 2600. Mass production of that chip is starting this month, and it could make its way to all Galaxy S26 units.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra could end up utilizing the Exynos 2600 chip

This was mentioned in a report from Korea, by the Korea Herald. It was mentioned by Park Kang-ho, an analyst at Daishin Securities. He specifically mentioned that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will use an Exynos chip, but he did not say it will be Exynos-exclusive, because it probably will not.

While it would not surprise us to see it in the Galaxy S26 Pro and Galaxy S26 Edge, the ‘Ultra’ is a different story. Why? Well, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, S24 Ultra, and S25 Ultra were all Snapdragon exclusive.

The Galaxy S24 and S24+ had Exynos variants, but not the ‘Ultra’. The last ‘Ultra’ Galaxy S smartphone that included an Exynos chip was the Galaxy S22 Ultra back in 2022. So it has been over 3.5 years since we’ve seen an Exynos chip inside the Galaxy S Ultra phone.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra was the last ‘Ultra’ Galaxy phone to use an Exynos chip

It is also worth noting that the Galaxy S22 Ultra was not Exynos-exclusive, a Snapdragon model was also out there and available in most markets. So, if Samsung ends up using an Exynos chip in the ‘Ultra’ model, that would be quite something.

In the past, Europe received Galaxy S smartphone models with Exynos chips, when they existed. The Galaxy S25 series, for example, was Snapdragon-exclusive through and through.

Using Exynos in the past was not received well by users, as Samsung’s chips were inferior to Qualcomm’s. There’s a good chance that will be the case with the Exynos 2600, as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 will probably outgun it, but… some regions may be forced to use it.

As a reminder, the Galaxy S26 series is expected to arrive in January next year.
