Apple iPhone 17 being announced on September 9

It’s official. Apple is announcing the new iPhone 17 on September 9, after sending out invites today to media and analysts.

The event will take place on September 9 – which is the last day of IFA, actually, and it’ll start at 10AM PT. As usual, it will take place in the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park in Cupertino, California.

Typically, the iPhone event lasts about an hour or so, followed by hands-on. This year, Apple is expected to announce four iPhones again, along with at least two watches, and possibly a pair of AirPods.

The big product this year is likely going to be the iPhone 17 Air. That is the super-thin iPhone that Apple has been rumored to be working on all year, and it’ll actually be thinner than the Galaxy S25 Edge. Though it will also have an insanely small battery too.

In addition to the iPhone 17 Air, there will also be the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Which all seem to be getting redesigned camera bars this year, making it more reminiscent of the Pixel camera bar.

“Awe Dropping”

Apple always has a tagline on their invites, with a graphic, which can sometimes tell us something about the device(s) that they’re planning to announce. The logo obviously shows that they are taking on Liquid Glass here, but of course we know that iOS 26 will be made official at this event and roll out a week later. But as far as the hardware goes? This doesn’t really tell us much.

However, the “Awe-dropping” tagline could be in regards to the iPhone 17 Air. As it is going to be a jaw-dropping device, given how thin it’ll be.

But at this point, we don’t have to wait long for the new iPhones to be announced.
