The Google Pixel 10 Pro has been announced recently, as a member of the Pixel 10 series. In this article, we’ll compare it to its predecessor. In other words, we’ll be comparing the Google Pixel 10 Pro vs Google Pixel 9 Pro. While the design did not really change all that much, Google did improve the new offering in a number of new ways, of course. This should be a rather interesting comparison due to the fact these two phones are as similar as they are.
With that being said, we’ll first list the specifications of both phones. Following that, we’ll compare their designs, displays, performance, battery life, cameras, and audio output. This article will hopefully help you make a purchasing decision, in case you’re thinking of getting the Pixel 10 Pro. Let’s get to it.

Google Pixel 10 Pro vs Google Pixel 9 Pro: Design
These two phones look basically the same. Not only that, but their dimensions are identical. They’re both made out of aluminum and glass. You’ll notice that Google went with rounded corners and flat front and back sides. The frame is also flat on both of these phones. A centered display camera hole sits on the display. The bezels are identical on the two phones, and they’re uniform.
You’ll also notice the power/lock and volume up and down keys on the right-hand side of both phones. Those buttons are even placed in the same spot on the two phones. There are no additional buttons here. If we flip them around, you’ll spot a camera bar on each of the phones. They both have a pill-shaped camera bar with three cameras on the inside. That camera bar has a landscape position in the upper portion of the backplate, and it does protrude on the back.
As mentioned earlier, the two phones even have the same dimensions, identical ones. What is different is the weight, and we’re guessing that the battery capacity has something to do with it. The Pixel 10 Pro has a larger battery, and is 8 grams heavier. That difference is negligible, but it’s worth noting. Both phones are IP68 certified, and both of them are quite slippery, actually. That is to be expected considering the build materials Google used.
Google Pixel 10 Pro vs Google Pixel 9 Pro: Display
In addition to having the same dimensions and looking the same, these two phones also have the same displays. Well, the one on the Google Pixel 10 Pro is technically slightly brighter (in theroy), and has a higher PWM, if you enable that through accessibility settings. Those are somewhat minor differences, as pretty much everything else is the same. Regarding brightness, the Pixel 10 Pro has a higher peak brightness, but only barely. And PWM, well, it is not nearly as high as on the competitor devices from China, but at least you can tune it up to 480Hz now to reduce flickering. Some people have issues with that, as it causes headaches. If you’re amongst them, this setting could help.

Now, regarding actual hardware. We’re looking at a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED display on both phones. The displays are flat and offer an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz). HDR10+ content is supported, while the peak brightness on the Pixel 10 Pro is 3,300 nits. It’s slightly lower on the Google Pixel 9 Pro at 3,000 nits. The resolution is 2856 x 1280 pixels on both phones, as is the aspect ratio (20:9. The screen-to-body ratio is at around 87%, and the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects both of these displays.
The touch response is good on both panels, while both of them are vivid. The viewing angles are great, and both panels are more than sharp enough. We did not notice the brightness difference, though we didn’t use the Pixel 10 Pro for long. We’ll test that more in the full review, of course. All in all, both of these displays are really good and quite frankly, they feel the same to use, which is to be expected as they’re the same panels, essentially.
Google Pixel 10 Pro vs Google Pixel 9 Pro: Performance
The Google Pixel 10 Pro is fueled by the Google Tensor G5 processor. That is Google’s new chip, and the first TSMC-made Tensor chip. It’s made using TSMC’s latest 3nm node. That chip is paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM inside the Pixel 10 Pro, while the company is also using UFS 4.0 flash storage here. So not only is the chip improved, but the company also included faster storage.
The Google Pixel 9 Pro, on the flip side, is fueled by the Google Tensor G4 processor. That is a 4nm processor made by Samsung. Google decided to pair that chip with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM inside the Pixel 9 Pro, but this phone includes slower storage. UFS 3.1 is used here. Do note that neither smartphone supports storage expansion, so you’re stuck with what you get initially.
Our full review of the Pixel 10 Pro is not out yet, and we didn’t get to use it much thus far. The Pixel 9 Pro did perform great, and it still does, so we’re expecting the same from the Pixel 10 Pro. Not only does it have a more powerful chip, but it comes with faster storage, which should reflect positively on performance as well. Neither of these two phones are made for gaming, but games should not be a problem, not at all.
Google Pixel 10 Pro vs Google Pixel 9 Pro: Battery
The Google Pixel 10 Pro features a 4,870mAh battery on the inside. The Pixel 9 Pro, on the other hand, has a 4,700mAh unit. Google did increase the battery capacity in the new model, slightly. It’s still not as large as the battery packs some of the competitors offer, but that’s because Google didn’t make a transition to a a silicon-carbon tech. The Pixel 9 Pro did offer good battery life, and we’re expecting to see even better numbers from the Pixel 10 Pro.
The Pixel 10 Pro just launched, and we’ll have to properly test its battery life before making any conclusions, though, of course. Still, expecting better battery life here is quite realistic. Not only is a larger battery involved, but the phone uses UFS 4.0 storage which is more power efficient, and on top of that, the Tensor G5 should be easier on battery life too. All in all, it will be interesting to see what results the Pixel 10 Pro delivers.
When it comes to charging, the Pixel 10 Pro technically supports 30W wired, 15W Qi2 wireless, and reverse wireless charging. The Pixel 9 Pro, on the other hand, supports 27W wired, 21W wireless (with Pixel Stand), 12W wireless (Qi), and reverse wireless charging. Do note that the Pixel 10 Pro does come with built-in magnets and supports full-fledged Qi2 charging. Neither phone includes a charger in the box.
Google Pixel 10 Pro vs Google Pixel 9 Pro: Cameras
The camera hardware inside the two phones is identical. Both smartphones have three cameras on the back. A 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.31-inch sensor size) is included, along with a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera (1/2.55-inch sensor size, 123-degree FoV). On top of that, you’ll find a 48-megapixel periscope telephoto camera (1/2.55-inch sensor size, 5x optical zoom. Macro focus is on the main camera on both phones.

While Google has a couple of new software camera tricks, the hardware remains the same in the Pixel 10 Pro. Considering new software, however, and the new processor, we do wonder if we’ll see notable improvements in the camera performance. The Pixel 10 Pro launched yesterday, so we didn’t really have time to test its cameras just yet. We can’t wait to do so, however.
The Pixel 9 Pro was and still is a truly compelling camera smartphone, however. It delivers really great-looking images with that contrasty Pixel look that people seem to love so much. It does a very good job under both good lighting and in low light too. There is room for improvement, though, so we’ll see if the Pixel 10 Pro can move Google’s photography prowess further forward.
Audio
You will find a set of stereo speakers on both of these smartphones. The speakers on the Pixel 9 Pro have very good loudness, and the sound quality is also on point. The expectations are similar from the Pixel 10 Pro.
You will not find an audio jack on either of these two smartphones, however. You can still utilize their Type-C ports to connect your wired headphones, however. Alternatively, Bluetooth 6 is on offer by the Pixel 10 Pro, while the Pixel 9 Pro supports Bluetooth 5.3.
