The Play Store has changed a lot over the years, and through its many alterations and upgrades, the one thing it has never had is a gaming forum. A place where mobile gamers could go and talk to each other about the games they like. Forums can be used for all sorts of stuff, too. While gamers having discussions about new games they’re playing or games they’re interested in is a core part of any gaming forum, they can also be used to report bugs and other issues. This is something that the Play Store could heavily benefit from.
As it turns out, it looks like Google may be working on adding a gaming forum to the Play Store app at some point down the line. It’s not something that’s currently available, but it is seemingly being worked on, which could suggest Google will roll it out soon.
A Play Store gaming forum has been spotted in early development
As of this moment, the feature isn’t available for users to interact with, but it does appear to be getting closer to release. Android Authority recently discovered how to enable the feature. This was done in the most recent version of the Play Store app, v47.4.31-31.
You can’t really do anything with it yet. However, it is possible to see how some of the associated functions of this feature will look. You’ll be able to access your interactions from the Manage Apps & Devices page. On this page, there’s a new “Your Contributions” section where you can see interactions you made with the forum-like feature. From this page, you have the ability to tap on a Likes section, as well as sections for Comments and Posts.
This is likely not where you’ll access the forum itself. There will most likely be a dedicated section or tab to get to it. And while you can probably see your interactions from inside the forum directly, Google appears to be giving users another easy way to see just their stuff. Additionally, there is some speculation that this might be a push to bolster Google Play Games with more features. There’s no clear indication of when this will be available. That being said, if things are this far along, a full launch can’t be too far off.
