An overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip is selling better than the regular version, thanks to Samsung. This information comes from Ice Universe, a well-known tipster, and it makes sense when you think about it.
Samsung has sold over 20 million Galaxy S25 series phones by the end of June
The tipster says that Samsung managed to sell over 20 million Galaxy S25 series smartphones by the end of June, worldwide. Each of those phones has the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy on the inside, as Samsung is using that chip exclusively in Galaxy S25 phones.
That is an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite. With that in mind, the tipster says that the combined sales of phones with a regular Snapdragon 8 Elite chip are lower than 20 million. Therefore, the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy is essentially the main chip, despite the fact it’s a special, overclocked model.
The difference between these chips is minor. The overclocked model is clocked at 4.47GHz, while the regular one runs at 4.32Hz. Either way, this is an interesting fact.
The Galaxy S25 phones seem to be selling like hotcakes
Now, regarding Galaxy S25 sales. These numbers should not surprise you. A recent report did note that the phones are selling like hotcakes, trumping the Galaxy S24 series. The numbers that the tipster just mentioned only confirm that.
Keep in mind that the Galaxy S24 sales were not bad at all. So the fact that the Galaxy S25 series is selling notably better is a huge success for Samsung, to say the least.
Three out of four Samsung Galaxy S25 phones were announced back in January. The Galaxy S25 Edge arrived in May, though its sales numbers are also counted in here. It did not have much time to contribute, but… it still managed to make a dent.
